The reaction is subtle enough to be missed, especially in his distraction of the mention of old wounds that never really healed. Never will. But there's a tension in his shoulders at the clang of the beer against the counter. It's not Mick, he's never been worried about Mick, it's just actions. He can't disconnect them.
"M'sorry, I..." He leans over to bury his face in his arms across his knees. Such a fuckup. He didn't mean to take Mick to that place, he's just terrified of how this will all end, desperate to get Lisa out of it, before her problems are worse than a shallow cut on her shoulder. Mick can't see the way his fingers dig into his palm, it's a kind of habit he's had for years now, a thing he does to ground himself. He can't ever be too far out of control in any direction, whether that's anger or fear or sadness or anything else, he has to stay focused and on a set line, a clear head and cold logic are the only things that have gotten him this far.
He feels the arm around his shoulders and he tenses at the unexpectedness of it, but it eases a little when he hears Mick's voice, a steady murmur in his ear. He's bad with these things, but goddammit if Mick can't tell when he actually needs it sometimes. It's a little unnerving, but the comfort outweighs the rest and he sinks a little against Mick's side.
This is the safest he ever feels, and he thinks it's not any different for Lisa. Mick's place, Mick in general is safety for them and Leonard can't wait for that feeling to be a constant in place of everything else. He just doesn't know how they're going to achieve that distant static-dream.
