There were certain things with Leonard that were as easy as breathing. Things that would always come easily like moving around in one another's space, watching for cues that intimacy was wanted or to back off. The way they moved around in the morning after a late night.
As much as Leonard could get lost in his own head, Mick isn't above second-guessing himself either. Was he going too far with something like a ring? What if Leonard didn't want it? What if, what if, what if?
But that response has all of the tension instantly melting out of him. Yes. That meant yes.
That meant yes.
He hasn't felt relief or sheer joy like that in a very long time.
He glances up again, greeted this time with the relaxed ease of anxious tension melting away from Mick's shoulders. He can't help it, can't stop the smile that rolls too easily over his lips.
"Well," He's on his feet and crossing the room, "aren't you going to say something?" He asks as he runs both hands up Mick's chest to rest on his shoulders. There's a distinct lack of his usual drawl. Nothing fake or over the top, just simple. Just him.
And as Leonard moves into his space, touches him with that warm and easy smile on his face, the look on Mick's face is close to one of wonder. He hasn't been this content, this happy in so fucking long he'd almost forgotten what it felt like.
His arms slip around his waist, drawing him in closer to kiss him. "Then we got about two hours before we can go and make this official."
Because if Lisa didn't get invited she would hunt them down and geld them both.
As Mick draws him close and kisses him, he melts against him, surprised by the reminiscent, heady feeling of it all that he isn't sure he's felt since he was a teenager. No surprise that Mick could still manage to drag that kind of feeling out of him.
Much more surprise at the sudden timeline. "Wha- two-- two hours?" Not that he wasn't serious about it, that he hadn't completely and emphatically meant that yes for what it is, but he can't say he expected it so quickly.
And for a moment it's almost like they really are stupid teenagers again as Leonard melts into him and Mick can't help the way the smile blooms across his face. Then he's grinning as Leonard stammers at the suddenly short timeline.
"Yeah Lenny. Two hours to meet the guy that's gonna do it. Two hours until Lise meets us there."
"Oh." His voice, colored with a sort of surprised understanding, is barely above a whisper as the confused frown turns into a softer smile. "You already set it up." He shakes his head and laughs. "Of course you did, you impulsive bastard." he laughs again--a rare, genuine sound that is hard to come by these days--and grabs Mick again, this kiss less content, more fierce and hungry.
Mick will find himself being pushed through the kitchen door, toward the couch in the living room in a frenzy. Leonard's lips never leave him, if they aren't on his own, they're somewhere against his skin, desperate and buzzing on a high he hasn't felt in years.
He doesn't care if they only have two hours to get there, or that Lisa will glare him half to death if they're late. He refuses to push this feeling aside and let it go. He plans to ride that high until it's spent, and Mick along with it.
