The road's blocked, traffic is delayed.

I see. Thank you, Gary. Thats alright. We're not in a rush today. We'll just go the long way.
And how is your mother? Everything is alright at home?

That's a change. It seems like we're always in a rush anymore.
It used to be calmer before. I miss that sometimes.
Okay. Tired, she's tired a lot. I told her she should sleep but she won't. She never does, always says there's too much to do.

[A brow furrows]

Does it trouble you? About your mother, I mean.

She should sleep when she's tired. It's better if you do.
Sometimes I think it's me. But I don't know what to do about it. I don't think I can. There's nothing.
There's nothing I can do because she won't listen.

Well, maybe its not that she won't listen, maybe there could be a better way of talking to her about it. Perhaps you could try a different way of asking. Do you think you could do that, Gary?

Another day, another Alpha to track down. The team follows leads to one of the smaller, local libraries, where everything is in shambles. Shelves overturned, books all over the floor, an entire section of the library corded off in yellow tape. The story of exactly what happened is shaky, just yet, but that's why they were here, after all. "DCIS. Respect the badge." It's safe to say that will never stop happening now, and Dr. Rosen's team of Alphas mostly just smile and shake their heads, and one or the other of them gently suggest Gary put the badge away. As the scene in front of them really begins to register as he looks around, steadily flipping through signals as he does, Gary frowns. "Dr. Rosen, this is bad. This isn't how people should treat books. What happened to the books, Dr. Rosen?" There's a hint of distress in his voice, though mostly it's distracted by what he's looking at.

Gary had gotten ahead of the group, somehow. He has a skill for being the most enthusiastic and so, not for the first time, Rosen follows a few steps behind him offering a silent apologetic nod to each of the unsuspecting lookers-on who gets a DCIS badge to the face courtesy of Gary Bell.

"Now, Gary," Rosen touches one of the young man's shoulders lightly, trying to calm and reassure him while also trying to make his own assessment of the scene. "I am sure with some cleaning and reorganizing they'll be alright." He even goes so far as to bend and pick one up, dusting off it's leather cover a little before holding it up for Gary to see. "See? All good."

His attention jerks like a snap to the touch on his shoulder, but he relaxes slightly when he sees Dr. Rosen. He watches intently for a moment as the older man grabs one of the books to show him it's fine. He squints and blinks once, assessing it, "Good." At least for now, he seemed to be pleased about it being a relatively easy fix. Now, at least, they could focus on the bigger issue at hand.
