Cisco is hyper aware of pretty much every twitch, every time his knee knocks against Hartley's. God. He's nervous. Which is stupid because it's not like this is a date. Emotions are ridiculous and he sort of hates how his kind of rule him sometimes.
He's seen this movie a hundred times and the jump-scares don't really get to him anymore, but he still jumps-- not because of the movie, but because of Harley's hand on his leg. He lets out an abrupt nervous laugh, startled at the sudden touch, and almost immediately clamps one hand over his mouth. "I'm sorry, I'm not laughing at you, I swear. And--" He waves a dismissive hand at the apology, "don't worry about it. It's fine."
He bites his lip as his gaze drops again to Hartley's hand. It's the perfect opportunity... "I was serious, earlier, you know." He thinks that sounded way smoother in his head than it does out loud, but it's out there now, so he does the only logical thing and reaches to thread his fingers with Hartley's. Sometimes his own special brand of awkward is painful, even for Cisco. Now is certainly one of those times.
Wow, that's...so sweet. The flirting with Reverb was definitely different - intense and hot. Reverb was so much more confident in his flirtation, but now that Hartley's here, he rather likes this nervousness in Cisco.
He squeezes Cisco's hand and hangs on. Everything goes to hell, and he jerks at every one of the jump scares. And then the alien is menacing Ripley, hissing at her from only inches away and extending its second mouth towards her ear, and he clutches hard at Cisco's arm with both hands, breathing hard and fast at the tension.
Oh, it won't take Hartley long at all to learn what different beasts Cisco and Reverb really are. They couldn't be more opposite creatures.
Cisco feels every jolt, hears every gasp as they watch the movie and eventually, he's more interested in watching Hartley watch the movie than he is in watching the movie himself. It's kind of adorable, and he can't help smiling slightly as Hartley's grip on his arm tightens just a little. He kind of wants to say something, but he doesn't want to break Hartley away from the film, either.
He waits until the final scene plays out and the credits roll, "So...worth it, right?" He grins.
Hartley blinks rapidly as the credits roll and he realizes that he really was clinging tightly to Cisco's arm. It was a great movie, if even more suspenseful than he had expected.
His cheeks redden as he uncurls slightly, his grip loosening. "Worth it? Yeah, yeah it was. Sorry..." He smiles sheepishly at the other man. "I did warn you."
Cisco might kind of hate how adorable Hartley looks when his cheeks flush, but he grins all the while anyway. "Nothing to apologize for," he shrugs a little, "I don't mind."
At that response, the sheepish expression turns sly, and Hartley gives Cisco's arm a squeeze. "Well, so long as you don't mind, maybe I'll just stay right here."
"That's fine by me." He smirks a little, and he feels like he should have some other witty thing to say back, and maybe that's what makes him say what he says next. Or maybe the fact that it's kinda...been awhile is driving him a little more than he realizes. Maybe a combination of the two. Either way, it won't stop him from regretting opening his mouth two seconds afterwards.
"If you have nightmares, my bed's big enough for both of us, you know." It sounded better in his head, really, it did. But now that it's out of his mouth, he's kind of mortified and it's his turn for his cheeks to grow hot, looking away, embarrassed.
Oh my god, why is he so CUTE? Hartley thinks, suppressing a gasp. Reverb had been exciting to play with, but this is even better.
He reaches out and cups Cisco's cheek, drawing him back to look at him. "I might have nightmares tonight," he murmurs, hunger in his eyes. Their lips are just inches apart. "In fact, I think I'd like to crawl into your bed with you right now."
He's a little surprised by it, but Cisco doesn't shy away from the touch, letting his eyes slide back up to look at him. His breath catches in his throat when he catches Hartley's eyes. Had they always been so...pretty?
He licks his lips, eyes darting down to Hartley's own. Some part of him can't believe what he's about to do, but he pushes that aside and lets the part that wants this guide him instead. He closes the nearly non-existent space between them and kisses him, soft and almost cautious, like he was afraid that somehow, someway he was reading this all wrong.
Even the kiss is sweet. Hartley sighs out and leans in closer, deepening the kiss and taking charge of it, slipping his tongue into Cisco's mouth. Certainly it doesn't seem like Cisco's read things wrong.
Oh. Oh. Okay. That's a reaction he hadn't actually anticipated, but in a good way. Cisco slides an arm around Hartley, tugging him closer. He doesn't want to think, he just wants more of wherever this is going.
Hartley wants it just as well. After the terror and disappointment of the day, being close to someone that he was already attracted to makes him feel like the world isn't yet crashing down.
"Yes, yes," he whispers eagerly against Cisco's lips. "I want you."
Hearing that he's wanted? Oh, Hartley, just make him putty in your hands, why don't you? There are few things Cisco Ramon needs almost as desperately as air, but this is certainly one of them. It's the sort of thing that made him easy to manipulate, but he wasn't thinking about that right now.
He breaks for air, refusing to really lose the closeness to Hartley, pressing his forehead to Hartley's. "Are you sure?" The question is a little more loaded than it seems at first, because beyond just wanting to be sure this is what he wants...Cisco's recalled that teensy little fact that apparently Hartley was with his doppelganger before showing up here. None of that background ulterior motive for the question really comes through his voice though, he's genuine in wanting to make sure-- second best insecurities aside.
No mixed messages, Hartley, just a little run-of-the-mill self-confidence flavored paranoia here.
Suddenly, he feels really put on the spot. By no fault but his own, but still. He pulls back, just a little, not completely out of reach, but enough to really look at him, enough for Hartley to see the sheepish look painted across his face. "I just-- it's...me that you want, right? Not...the leather-and-guyliner version of me?"
Hartley blinks, then smiles sweetly and leans closer, his confidence rising. "Are you kidding? That guy is obviously a total jerk. I already like you better."
He can't help the grin that comes at those words. It's just said so plainly, so simply, so...certain, that it's impossible to doubt the sincerity and he reaches up to tug Hartley closer, kissing him again. There's a little more confidence in it all now, and he doesn't have any issue showing Hartley just how much he wants this.
The night turns into a blur of passion that Cisco hasn't felt in awhile that...eventually managed to make its way from the couch to the bedroom. There might be a trail of clothes in the hallway as evidence. And for the first time in a long time, Cisco didn't go to sleep alone, in an empty bed.
A fact that his now sleep-addled brain didn't immediately remember on waking the next morning. He's still in a fuzzy-sleep brain state when he recognizes the press of another body against his and at first, it almost startles him, but the memories replace the sudden panic and he relaxes, shifting to his side to look at the man next to him. He looks so peaceful, it's kind of cute.
A short while later, he's slipped out of bed and gone into the kitchen to make breakfast-- the whole shebang: Pancakes, eggs, and bacon. There's also coffee being made, too.
Hartley felt a hell of a lot better, too. It had been a long while since he'd slept with someone so sweet, so genuinely eager to please him. So often his encounters were rushed, anonymous - all he dared to have. But Cisco is kind, maybe even the kind of person Hartley could really see himself liking.
He wakes after Cisco, to an empty bed. But the smell of bacon and coffee is welcome.
He rises and tugs on his boxers, then wanders out of the bedroom in search of Cisco.
Hartley can't help but grin at the way Cisco lights up the room. He's so... charming. "Good morning, gorgeous," he says, slipping an arm around him and nibbling on his ear. "What's all this?"
He leans back against him, still craving contact because...well, he always does, really. "I thought you might like breakfast." There's a little, involuntary shudder when Hartley nips at his ear. He can't stop it, it's a sensitive place and he does like biting.
"I do like breakfast," Hartley agrees, tightening his arms around Cisco. He nibbles again, mischievously, then releases Cisco gently and moves to get himself a cup of coffee. "Are you...working today?"
His quick mind can't really leave things alone. He's already wondering what he's going to do with himself - and how long it'll be before he tries to go home. Or if that's even in the cards. And if it's not, then what?
But today, at least, he can figure out if he's going to be staying with Cisco, and what that'll look like. One step at a time, starting with breakfast and finding out what his new companion actually does on a daily basis.
"Lucky me, I guessed right," he jokes, grinning as Hartley moves to get his coffee. He finishes setting the table and grabs his own coffee off the counter before sitting down at the table. "Not today--" he waves one hand a little dismissively, "I mean, unless there's a wicked crazy emergency or something." He shrugs a little, "I thought I could, ya no, help you get settled or whatever." Whatever that really meant. He didn't really mind the idea of Hartley staying with him.
