from this tdm:
02. De Chima, Virginia, is a large city with a healthy economy, with large numbers of citizens waiting to be awed by your very presence. Look at you! Organic wonder! Science and technology are the lifeblood of this city, so you're likely to come across a good many locals taking your picture with the newest of devices. The imPort craze remains high here, and you may find yourself cornered by overzealous imPort fans, media wannabes and opportunists alike, shoving cameras in your face. Their questions are likely to be fairly mundane, however; get ready for an interview about your taste in romantic partners, personal underwear choices, favorite foods, and more!

On this lazy summer day, the biggest buzz comes from a group of teens and tweens who are all taking part in a massive scavenger hunt spread via social media! What are they gathering? You! ImPorts are likely to be targeted and asked to pose for pictures in which they demonstrate their powers, video clips in which they share fun facts and secrets about their home worlds, and much more! If you're not interested, you better hurry home -- they're persistent!

This is Raven's absolute least favourite part about being an imPort. She just wants to go about her day; she never signed up for being a goddamned celebrity, and the exasperation is writ into every inch of her as she tries to limp past them and make her way to the De Chima engineering lab where she works, only to be derailed by a scavenger hunt descending on her. The people with the cameras seem to be expecting someone more... graceful, more practiced with the public attention and fielding these questions, and the name on their lips is almost, but not quite, Raven. She rolls her eyes.

"Listen, I have no idea what you're after, but you can't even get my name right, so there's no way in hell I'm signing anythi—"

Evidently the fans weren't too far off in their quarry, though, because the man currently trying to get a selfie with her looks a little startled, his gaze locked over her shoulder. Raven twists to follow his look, and catches sight of...

Herself.

Her own face. On someone else's body.

And the whole world screeches to a halt, and she only has enough presence of mind left to sharply elbow him away from her, everything else narrowing down on the other woman, the other imPort, wrangling her own little circle of fans bombarding her on the street. What the fuck—

And Raven's staring openly enough that Becks soon notices.

Rebecca Atherton is no stranger to the press, although admittedly she is usually on the other end of it all, she doesn't mind the flocks of people that surround her quite on the same level as some of her fellow imPorts do. She doesn't necessarily like being bombarded with overly personal questions, but she can play her way through the crowd easily.

But it's an echo of her own voice somewhere not far off that has Becks pausing and looking confused. There were plenty of people with a huge array of powers in this place. Voice imitator. Who knows.

Her eyes scan the crowd, looking for the person in question when she finally lands on the other woman a few feet away. "What the fuck?" She doesn't stop the words falling past her lips and her fingers itch to reach for the gun tucked away in the band of her jeans. "Who the hell are you, and why are you wearing my face?"

"Excuse you, it's mine too, and I kinda like it." She shoots her answer back just as quick; Raven's always been mouthy, and her surprise catches her wrong-footed but makes her defensive. She shrugs off their fans and limps closer to get a better look (and in that movement alone, there's a telltale difference between the two women: Raven walks with a hitch in her step, the ridge of a leg brace beneath her jeans).

Her brows are caught in a frown, looking over the other woman like Becks is a puzzle to be solved. Considerations spin through Raven's mind, sorting through and cataloguing and discarding them in a few breaths: Illusion tech? No, she seems pissed off about it too. Clone? Who the fuck would bother to clone me? Identical twin? Haahaha no.

She's just about started considering this might be a robotic AI created in her likeness; she's seen weirder things and more advanced AI do something similar, after all. ALIE crafted in Becca Pramheda's likeness.

But she can't solve the mystery without more info, so in the end, she settles for introducing herself: "I'm Raven," she finally says. "First step to figuring this out: are we from the same world? Did yours have a space station called the Ark?"

Work the problem, Raven.
