"We are, and it's what we are so..." He shrugs. It's easier to face when he's using it to try and cheer Klaus up than when coping with his own emotions and pain.
Shifting to slide his arm around Klaus, holding him carefully so he doesn't fall as he does. "I know, Kiddo," he says with a chuckle. Though he's realizing that Klaus is now older than him, though not as much older as Five is. "It's good for you though. Mom always told us that."
Though now it's good for him in other ways though. Especially in sleeping through the pain and misery that is coming. "You going to make me carry you to the couch?" It's only just behind them, but still. He's actually offering in his own hide from emotions kind of way.
He leans further into Diego when he slides his arm around him. If the other man would let him, he could probably sleep against him, right here, right now, on this table.
"No," he says with mock-offense, before smirking up at his brother. "If I was gonna have you carry me, I'd make you carry me to a proper bed, D. Come on." He laughs a little, and it's weird because he hasn't felt like he had any reason to laugh recently, and this isn't even a big thing, but it's nice to feel a little more akin to normal, somehow, in the midst of...everything else.
Chuckling at that, not releasing that hold around his brother's shoulder, keeping him close despite teasing him. 'Fine, you need to be in a bed then. Though I carry you, you're going fireman," he points out. "I'm totally not carrying you like some summer bride," he notes, though he's still smiling. Even if it's starting to feel odd. He just doesn't smile a lot.
"You really should get some sleep," he points out.
"I'm hardly in a position to argue how you get me there, if I'm making demands, am I?" His nose crinkles a little in his amusement.
"...yeah, probably." he admits with a sigh. There's a request sitting at the end of his tongue that he isn't sure he should ask-- isn't he already asking for enough (too much) of all of his siblings that they even have to be there while he goes through this journey to sobriety?
But somehow, he still finds a way to put a voice to it, "...will you stay?" Almost instantly, he regrets asking, and starts trying to qualify it, "I mean-- just... til I pass out?" His voice drops quiet and small, "I hate being alone." Always has, if he's honest.
"And yet, I'm sure you'd find a way to complain still," he teases, smiling though as he says it.
When Klaus starts to ask, Diego pauses, curious what he might be asking. And then the request comes and Diego leans into him for a minute. He honestly considers it, considers how he feels about it, and then he nods.
"Course I'll stay. Unless you start like weird talking in your sleep or something," he says, not sounding at all like he means that though. Not in the least. They need to get him through this, and they'll find a way. If this helps, it's a way.
He smiles a little at Diego's agreement, relieved he said yes, but the smile widens into something a little more mischievous, "Well, no promises. If I start talking in my sleep, who knows what I'll say. I already have no filter when I'm awake."
"C'mon." He mumbles as he gets to his feet, a little unsteady but not wholly off-balance. Still, he grabs his brother's shoulder to steady himself a little just to be sure, before heading toward the stairs. If Diego was staying, they sure as hell weren't both of them squeezing onto the couch.
