Finally finished that damn story. Manuscript. [At least when he's texting he can stop and think about the right word.

But the book had been a bitch and a half to finish up, so he needs to tell at least someone that he's done.]

I'm sure in all of her provisions, Gideon could whip up something for insomnia.

[The smile on his face is an absolute mile wide at that last text.]

Of course. Soon as you wanna read it it's yours. [Because it's Leo, and Mick will always let him read whatever he's written without question.]

Sara isn't avoiding Leo.



She isn't.




Okay. So maybe she is. All the time.

She knows it's not his fault he was born with the same face someone else died with.




That doesn't help her to care more. (Or less.)

Sara is a dodger. Of the things she doesn't want to face. Of pieces of her past. Of conversations with any real depth. And most noticeable for the fact of how personal it is: She is dodging Leo at almost every turn she can. The problem is, as Captain, she can only squirrel away for so long before she has to make herself accessible. Which is exactly what eventually brings him to drape himself across the chair opposite hers in the office. "Is there something you'd like to tell me, Captain?"

Sara barely even deigns giving Leo the extent of the slide of her gaze, from her work, to his face, to her chair, and back to her work. No catch to her posture. No flicker in her expression. None of it is allowed. She repeats those words, over and over, somewhere distantly, but her mouth asks, "Aside from I'm busy and you don't have an appointment?"

And that she doesn't do appointments?

And that if she did, she'd probably still not schedule one?

At least not until she actually had to, and couldn't be anywhere else?

"Nobody makes appointments." He quips back, giving her a derisive look. "But..." He steeples his fingers together in front of him. "You are avoiding me. And I think, being the object of your avoidance, I at least deserve to know why." A beat. "Besides the obvious answer being just... my face." Because he gets that. Has that reaction every time Mick is in a room with him. He just apparently is better at dealing with that than.... really any of them, and their wide and varied ways of reacting (and not) to him, and his continued existence in the halls of this ship.

"I'm not avoiding you." Sara's voice is a little hard for it, with a lookup that really questions his own statement of his own worth of her time, and whether it was worth her time to put in that effort. "The ship isn't big enough for that, if you haven't noticed."


It's not true, and yet there's a whole of lot of truth to it, too. The ship really isn't big enough to actually accomplish that. There is only so much space. There are only so many of them. Everyone gets off the ship at the same time. Everyone eats mostly around the same times. Even if she is, she can't really. Not in any wholesale fashion.

"Except that you are." He argues, his own tone all the firmer in response. "Just as much as anyone living in the same house can do." True avoidance may not be possible, the ship is only so big. But. She's doing a pretty good job of it, given all the limitations that are trying to impede her effort.

The thing about the multiverse is... it means there are an endless number of copies of everyone that has ever existed, roaming around some other Earth out there. But Leo Snart has happened across this one in particular, and though their names and their faces are the same, Mick Rory of the Legends crew could not be a further cry from the one he'd known.

And he's said as much, in as many words, in their earlier fight while Mick was scouring the ship for so much as a single drop of booze. It's worrisome, really, the alcoholism. And maybe Leo shouldn't have tried to change it. Change him. He saw it, originally, as trying to help, but belatedly he realized that maybe it was a lot less that and a lot more a reflection of just how precisely very not over the death of his own Mickey he was clearly not.

He hadn't considered it, really, that could be a reason for his draw to this ship and it's crew. Not until he was yelling it at Mick, anyway.

Leo does feel bad for the things he said, too angry in the moment to bother curbing any of it. But that's what leads him to Mick's door, a light knock acknowledging his arrival.

It's not his Snart.
Different mannerisms, different movements, everything cries out to him that this isn't the partner that he'd lost. Not that it makes any of this easier.

No booze.
No booze means he can't sleep, can't even pretend that he's asleep so he can ignore the faint footsteps near his door.
Footsteps that will never be Lenny's.
Not really.

Mick pulls his forearm down from where it had been covering his eyes in a vain attempt to sleep.

"Open the door Gideon. Raise the lights."

Leo can't say he's not surprised at the allowance, but he's willing to accept it all the same, slipping into the room as soon as Gideon allows the doors to slide open, and then shut behind him.

"I take it that you maybe have a minute? I wanted to talk to you."

Talk?
Ugh. Maybe he should have left the door closed. Mick grumbles and pulls himself up, reaching for a shirt.

"Course you wanna talk. At this hour. What about?"

His eyes have adjusted to the brighter lights Mick had called for, from Gideon, and it's only seconds before Mick is pulling on a shirt, but it isn't fast enough to go unnoticed. The scars that wind up over his ribs and arms. It's a rough and striking image, but he doesn't comment on it. "What I said to you. Earlier, I--" There's a frown on his face and it's the sort that's so clearly directed at himself more than any external target. He lets out a soft huff and relents. "I wanted to apologize. I've no right to judge you."

There are only brief moments when Mick will catch Leo out of the corner of his eye and his heart will stutter step, reminding him too much of Leonard. Draped over something like an overgrown cat. The theatrical hand gestures.

But the moments are all too brief. He's too expressive, too open.
The Leonard that might have been if Lewis had been taken out decades earlier.

Despite the differences, Mick doesn't actively dislike the guy either. He just makes him miss his Snart a little more.

A shrug at the apology. "'s fine. You ain't the first, won't be the last either."

Barry has avoided reaching out to Leo since he went off with the Legends. He's still processing how he feels about all of that, and he knows Mick and Sara especially will be more affected than him by his presence. Best to give them all some time to bond, while he keeps his distance.

He still remembers that hug, and he wishes he didn't. It brings up so many regrets about how things had been with Leonard. About what maybe could have been with him.

But he just smashed a satellite with his fist, and he's exhausted, and resting is hard. So he's sending him a text, after arguing with himself for a few minutes about whether or not he should.

I have had better days. But it isn't the worst I've ever had.
And in general... it's not so bad.
What extra heroic thing did you do today?

Leo and Mick sort of got into it and it wasn't really pretty. He was nothing like the Mick Rory that Leo had known and maybe that was the root of the problem-- they didn't see the other when they looked at each other, they saw someone else, but just a little off and a little wrong. It's the sort of thing that eats at people from the inside, even if they try not to give it rise to conscious thought.

Well, I imagine it’s hard to compare with the worst you’ve had, considering. How can I help?

Is he avoiding that question? Absolutely, yes.

Hm, maybe, but it's not exactly a competition. Bad is bad, all the same.
I don't know. I think it's... doppelganger problems, mostly.

There's a beat before the dots start bouncing as he's writing another message, too.

You might be as bad at avoiding as Palmer is at lying, you know.

If you want some doppleganger advice, I have a lot of experience with that.

I’m...okay, yeah. It’s just a lot. You sure you want to know?

It would be nice to have someone to talk to, outside of his team. Relatively outside of his team. But also that involves talking about things.
