Barry has avoided reaching out to Leo since he went off with the Legends. He's still processing how he feels about all of that, and he knows Mick and Sara especially will be more affected than him by his presence. Best to give them all some time to bond, while he keeps his distance.
He still remembers that hug, and he wishes he didn't. It brings up so many regrets about how things had been with Leonard. About what maybe could have been with him.
But he just smashed a satellite with his fist, and he's exhausted, and resting is hard. So he's sending him a text, after arguing with himself for a few minutes about whether or not he should.
I have had better days. But it isn't the worst I've ever had. And in general... it's not so bad. What extra heroic thing did you do today?
Leo and Mick sort of got into it and it wasn't really pretty. He was nothing like the Mick Rory that Leo had known and maybe that was the root of the problem-- they didn't see the other when they looked at each other, they saw someone else, but just a little off and a little wrong. It's the sort of thing that eats at people from the inside, even if they try not to give it rise to conscious thought.
There's a long pause, as Barry tries to sort out how to explain himself to someone who has no idea what's going on in his life. Really, it's a conversation better had in person, probably, but he knows how busy the Legends are.
Well. Okay. So every once in awhile a really evil villain comes along, and this year's villain of choice (and his wife) decided it would be a good idea to make the whole planet stupid to bring about some kind of Enlightenment era. Part of his plan was to fake his own death using his ability to swap bodies, and get me sent to prison for murder, which also happened.
But eventually I got out, and we stopped him, but he sent one of his brain-melting satellite crashing down to Earth as a backup plan. So I speed-punched it. It worked, at least, and I had some last minute help from another speedster.
No. That actually isn't the way that works. You can't be the most effective protector of your people if you don't also take time to take care of yourself.
You're right about that, but Dr. Snow is a lot scarier than Killer Frost when you disobey her orders. He probably wouldn't mind breaching you here though.
Leo has no problem paying Cisco in coffee. It's an easy enough fix, really, for all his troubles. He thanks him once he's dropped off and wanders into the room. "My question still stands: Barry Allen, what am I gonna do with you?" He chuckles softly and shakes his head.
Barry gives him a warm smile, and stands to go meet him. Despite his shredded suit and the general condition he's in, he is happy to see him. "Well, I could think of a few -- oh." Yeah, maybe he's not ready for walking yet. His legs give out from under him mid-sentence.
"Barry!" While he isn't as fast as a speedster, Leo is quick on his feet, and he manages to catch Barry before he goes completely down. "Now, what advice did Caitlin give you?" He drawls, a fondly annoyed tone coloring his voice. "Because something tells me that you need someone around to make sure you follow it."
Barry gasps when Leo catches him, hanging onto him and just breathing for a minute. He blushes a little, though. The combination of his proximity, that familiar drawl, and the concern are doing funny things to his brain. "Thank you. She might have told me to stay put and take it easy for the night or I'll regret it."

Hey, how's life on the Waverider?

There's a beat before the dots start bouncing as he's writing another message, too.
You might be as bad at avoiding as Palmer is at lying, you know.

It would be nice to have someone to talk to, outside of his team. Relatively outside of his team. But also that involves talking about things.

Unless something more pressing than an argument with Mick is going on, but details.

Maybe Mick isn’t the only one who needs Leo’s help.

Boy he really hopes Leo can't tell how anxious he is about that suggestion over text.
