"By all means," he makes a sweeping motion with his hand, "Go." There's something particularly intense and sharp about him just then, his words, posture and how he holds himself, like he's daring him to just leave. Even with his eyes hidden behind his goggles, the intensity is perfectly clear. Perhaps because of them, even.
It's something his own Hart doesn't see or hear from him, pretty much ever. But the people on his Earth expect certain things from him and know better than to piss him off, and that's why he doesn't doubt that Hartley won't leave. He'll just be reminded who he's speaking to and correct his attitude.
Hartley freezes at the sound of that tone, his eyes widening with nervousness. It's not that he forgot, but he thought that they were meeting for a good time, and so he had thought that he was relatively safe.
He shakes his head, fidgeting in a way that Paco has certainly never seen Hartley do. His hair is also a slightly different haircut - longer, and he tends to toy with a lock of hair. "We're both here, now," he says awkwardly. "Not a big deal. So... can I buy you a drink?"
Hartley hesitates, then raises a hand and waves it to a passing server. "You like scotch?" he asks Paco. "Or wine? Whatever you want. Top shelf only, just go ahead and order it. My treat."
"Fancy." He smirks and when the server stops by he orders the places best whiskey. "Trying to impress me or is this your usual?" He asks, like he doesn't already know the answer to that question.
"I guess it can be," He chuckles softly, leaning forward on the table just a bit.
"So. Tell me something interesting about you. Something...most people don't know." It's an easy conversation starter, really, something to break the ice, and Paco wonders how honest he'll be in his answer. If he can even tell.
Hartley considers the question. It doesn't seem strange for him to ask - invasive, but it is an ice breaker. "Okay..." He thinks for a moment, then smirks mischievously. "I've got a mole on the inside of my right thigh."
He leans closer. "First one's free. I'll tell you anything you want to know, if you'll return the favour."
He smirks slightly at that answer. "Is it bad I just sort of want to dare you to prove it?"
"All right, I'll play." He tips his head and thinks about it for a moment. "My ears are one of my hot spots, so you know..if you ever really want to get my attention..." He smirks. Okay, that may be a little bit more for his Hart playing the home game, but, hey, it works.
"Ooh, sounds promising." He sounds more interested than he actually is. Somewhere in one corner of his mind, Paco's counting the seconds until this is over and he can go home.
"Mmm...you sure you want to know the answer to that?" He is a known criminal, after all.
Hartley shifts a bit. He doesn't mind playing with bad boys, or even playing the role of one for a while. But when he's got the real thing rubbing his nose in it, that's another matter.
He ducks his head and takes a generous swallow of his drink. Then he looks up. "Look, uh... we both know you aren't here to write my autobiography. You want me to come over to your side of the booth? Or do you want to go somewhere?"
Well, he hadn't expected the game to end so soon. That's unfortunate, but Paco's nothing if not adaptable. He'll roll with with, until it stops being advantageous.
"Where did you have in mind?" He asks, one eyebrow perked curiously.
Hartley paused. Yeah, it was pretty quick, but he hadn't expected to start chatting. He'd basically just expected it to be a booty call.
He got up, then slipped out of the booth and slid to the other side. "Sorry, am I moving too fast?" he asks, sliding his arm around the other man. "I just need to relax a little. I hope that's okay. You make me nervous, I guess."
Paco shifts a little in his seat, turning toward him as Hartley joins him. "Aww, why're you nervous, honey?" He reaches up to slide his fingers in his hair.
That didn't really make him feel less nervous, but he smiled anyway. He tightened his grip and leaned in close, resting his forehead against Paco's ear.
"I've never kissed a metahuman before," he murmured.
If he didn't know the one from another Earth, he might find this one kind of adorable, so jittery and uncertain. As it is, he finds the lower levels of confidence almost annoying.
But all of his thoughts come to a halt when Hartley's words come so close to his ear. "Well, there's a first time for everything," he mumbles, turning to catch his lips against his own, reminding himself it's just a game, he's just playing a part.
Hartley purrs into the kiss, pressing close and running a hand up Paco's chest. This is more like it, distracting and hot, rather than a nerve-wracking game of chess. He doesn't mind chess, but it's not really his thing. He has a hard time thinking too far ahead.
When their lips part, he grins, and then turns and takes another long drink. He refills their glasses, a little sloppily, and looks back at Paco, running a finger up the back of his ear. "Not bad," he teases. "I could get to like it."
He lets the kiss linger as long as the other wants, matching pace, but keeping it simple. He isn't trying to go out of this way to impress, here.
But he apparently did something right, if the grin on Hartley's face is anything to judge by. "Oh, yeah?" he smirks and can't stop himself from leaning into the touch. Maybe he shouldn't have mentioned that.
He's a good kisser, somehow seems to know just how to make him feel good. Hartley looks even happier when he sees Paco lean into the touch, smug at the proof that he's pleasing the other man.
"Yeah," he says. "You don't seem that bad... after everything I've seen on TV, you'd think that you're just a maniac." He pauses. "Uh, no offence."
"Well, it wouldn't do much for the news hype if they mentioned I also like puppies." He laughs, a sign he's not actually offended by the remark, either way.
"So..." he reaches up to push a strand of hair away from Hartley's eyes. "what else are you planning for the evening?"
Hartley's eyes flicker with relief that Paco didn't take offense or get angry at his comment. At that point, even in the dimness of the club, Paco can probably tell that his eyes are a slightly different shade, or perhaps he's wearing coloured contacts.
He leans closer to nibble at Paco's earlobe. "Well, I've still got a lot of firsts to take care of."
He tips his head the slightest amount when he notices his eyes. They're different. Hmm.
He might have wondered more about that if not for being distracted, a soft groan rolling up out of him before he could stop it. "Firsts?" He repeats curiously, eyebrows arched. Oh, he hopes that doesn't mean what first springs to mind.
He smirks, "You so sure you're gonna get that far, Rathaway?" Playing the hard-to-get card is easy when he's naturally aloof without much effort at all.
"Plus," he turns toward him, shifting closer and reaching up to brush his thumb across Hartley's cheek, "who says I put out on the first date?" All he has to do is keep him interested enough for a second meeting, once that's confirmed he'll make his leave. Paco just hopes he doesn't take too long or lose interest.

He leans back in his seat and gives an easy-going grin, "Yeah, I'd like that."

He tugged at a lock of his hair, then ran his hand through it. "What do you do, uh, for a living?" He pauses. "Do you do anything for a living?"
